Take Shelter! (Shelter Basics)
March 21, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 3:30 pm
An event every month that begins at 9:00 am on day Third of the month, repeating until November 15, 2025
SHELTER BASICS… and how to rig them!
From tents… to tarps… to trash bags … to snow caves (quinzhees)…
They can all be amazing shelters… IF you know how to use them!
Many folks have tried tents (“they all leak”) with little success.
Most people have used tarps (“they suck”) with no knowledge of what it takes to make a tarp work ..
And camping in the snow has GOT TO BE cold… (its not!)
All of these shelter types have been used for thousands of years with great success, even without the modern materials available today… all it requires is the know how to use them properly.
… and, the knowledge of knots!
(All materials can be provided, however we strongly encourage participants to bring their own, to learn how to provide optimal shelter for themselves with their own gear.)
This class, a component of our outdoor leadership program, can be offered any time by request…
